Blackwing Volumes / Frida Kahlo Pencil Point Guard

A lightweight aluminum sleeve that slides over the point of your Blackwing pencil to protect it from breaking in a pencil pouch, bag, or pocket. Finished to match the Frida Kahlo Volumes release.

The Story of Blackwing

The original Blackwing 602 was introduced by the Eberhard Faber Pencil Company in 1934, beloved for its soft, extra-dark graphite and the promise of writing with "half the pressure, twice the speed." It became the tool of choice for legends like John Steinbeck, Vladimir Nabokov, and Looney Tunes animator Chuck Jones — but production stopped in 1998, sending original Blackwings soaring to $40 apiece on the secondary market. In 2010, California Cedar Products Company revived the trademark, relaunching Blackwing with premium California cedar and fine Japanese graphite. Today, the Blackwing Volumes series carries that legacy forward, releasing a new limited-edition pencil each quarter as a tribute to the people, places, and moments that shape creative culture.
